International Communication Association (ICA) 2025 Manipal Regional Hub International Conference commenced at Manipal Institute of Communication, Manipal here on Friday.
Dr M D Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, Manipal inaugurated the conference. In his address, he highlighted the seismic shifts in communication and media studies. He stated that communication has reshaped human perception, social interaction and future outlooks.
Emphasizing the growing influence of technology, he noted its impact on the creative dimensions of communication and its educational practices. Dr Venkatesh also expressed concern over the decline of ethical standards in contemporary media discourse and underscored the importance of reviving journalistic values rooted in truth and integrity. He concluded by stressing the need for communication practices that are constructive and research in media studies that meaningfully contribute to society.
MIC director Dr Shubha H S speaking on the occasion emphasized the transformative power of communication in connecting people to ideas and truth. Senior Professor at MIC, Manipal- Dr B P Sanjay spoke about the journey of the Manipal Regional Hub within the ICA network, celebrating its growth and scholarly contributions.
