Udupi: Bhavana Foundation and Bhaasa Gallery & Studio, in collaboration with the Regional Resource Centre for Folk Performing Arts (RRC), are organizing a two-day Janapada Indigenous Art Workshop focusing on the traditional art of Rajasthan Phad Painting. The workshop will be held on June 27 and 28 at Dhwanyaloka, located at the MGM College campus.
The event aims to create awareness about India's rich folk and indigenous art traditions and provide participants with an opportunity to learn and practice one of Rajasthan’s most celebrated storytelling art forms. On June 27, participants will be introduced to Shahpura Phad Painting, while the session on June 28 will focus on Gangaur Phad Painting. Through practical demonstrations and guided learning, attendees will gain insights into the techniques, themes, and cultural significance of these traditional art forms.
Organizers said the workshop is part of an ongoing effort to preserve and promote indigenous artistic traditions by connecting contemporary learners with heritage art practices. They emphasized that such initiatives help nurture appreciation for Indian folk arts and encourage cultural continuity among younger generations.
Art enthusiasts, students, cultural practitioners, and members of the public are invited to participate in the workshop. For further information and registration details, interested persons may contact Dr. Janardhan Havanje at 9845650544.
